Looks Like Jordan's Got Company:

After 32 years of standing alone with the single-school record, it seems like Michael Jordan's finally got a contender in Laney's Elijah Wilson, who successfully tied Jordan in his record of 42 points in a single game. ESPN has now honored Wilson with their SE Regional Player of the week award. Catch the scoop on Elijah's awesome game skills on ESPN and WWAY. Catch more on this story in Yahoo Sports.

Honoring the Past - Brightening the Future:
After 26 years of serving as the head coach of Laney High School, Fred Lynch went out in style, thanks to the three days of nearly non-stop basketball at Laney High School and Holly Ridge Middle School at the 1st Annual Fred Lynch Invitational.  The event was established by Laney's new head Men's Basketball Coach, Nathan Faulk. The tournament featured 18 high school teams from the Wilmington area, the Triangle and Sandhills. Each team played at least seven scrimmages over three days.  Catch more info on the FLI at News 14 Carolina. You can also check out more about Lynch stepping down at WWAY Channel 3.

New Invitational in the Making:
New Laney Boys Basketball Coach, Nathan Faulk, is already making noise at Laney and his first act as Head Coach is to have all-new invitational in the makings. Faulk has announced plans to start the Fred Lynch Invitational, a three-day summer scrimmage for boys and girls high school basketball teams. The scrimmages have been set for June 25, 26 and 27 with games at Laney High School, Trask Middle School and Holly Shelter Elementary School. According to Faulk, the list of teams committed to play includes Laney, Hoke County, Apex, Hoggard, Clinton, Sanderson, Union, Ashley, East Bladen, Cape Fear Academy, West Brunswick, Topsail and Jacksonville boys teams.  The invitational will feature two days of round-robin play and a single-elimination tournament on the third day, and is intended to be free to the public.
